Week Ten. We Said This Was the Number That Changes the Conversation.
'Choosin' Texas' just notched its tenth straight week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — a milestone only a tiny handful of songs in chart history ever reach.
Back when "Choosin' Texas" hit week seven, we wrote that if it ever made it to ten, the story would stop being "biggest country song of 2026" and start being "song of the year, period." Well, here we are. The song just locked up its tenth consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and we're allowed to say it out loud now.
It's hard to overstate how thin the air is up there. Billboard points out that only about 4% of every song to ever top the Hot 100 across the chart's 67-year history has held on for ten weeks or more. That's not a country statistic or a 2026 statistic — that's the whole archive, every genre, every era. Ella is now in a club that includes a couple dozen songs total.
The country side of the ledger is almost funnier. "Choosin' Texas" is sitting on its 25th week atop Hot Country Songs, and it's one of only four songs in history to rule the Hot 100 for ten-plus weeks while also landing in the Hot Country Songs top five. When you're being counted on one hand against the entire genre, the comparisons kind of run out.
What we keep coming back to is how steady this has been. A ten-week run isn't one viral spike that refuses to die — it's the song quietly refilling its tank week after week, still getting added to playlists in week ten instead of sliding off them. That's the part that makes us think the floor under this thing still isn't close.
For everyone keeping score at home: the all-time Hot 100 record is 19 weeks. We're not going to pretend we can call where this lands. But we said ten was the number that changed the conversation, and the conversation has officially changed.
If you've been holding off streaming it because you've heard it a thousand times already — give it the play anyway. Those are the spins that keep her in the rooms we all want to see her in. And with the Dandelion Tour rolling through the summer, the odds are good the next milestone shows up before we've finished celebrating this one.
