Dress Unzips Mid-Song, Ella Throws On a Ravens Jersey and Keeps Going

Picture the worst-case scenario for a stadium set: song two of sixty minutes, rain coming down sideways, 70,000 people watching, and your entire dress comes unzipped. That was Ella's Saturday night at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, opening for Morgan Wallen on the Still The Problem run. And her response might be our favorite thing she's done all tour.

No panic, no walk-off, no awkward pause. Per Holler and local Baltimore coverage, she grabbed a purple Ravens jersey, pulled it on over the failed dress, picked her guitar back up, and played the rest of the set as-is. In Baltimore, in that stadium, the jersey landed like a hometown move -- the crowd loved it. What could have been the story of the night for the wrong reason turned into the moment everybody was talking about.

Then she made it funnier. The next day on her Instagram Story, she recapped it herself over Stone Temple Pilots' "Wonderful" -- the most sarcastic soundtrack choice available: "Yesterday my entire dress came unzipped on song #2 in a 60 minute set in the pouring down rain in a stadium full of people." That's the same person who talks to arena crowds like they're sitting on her porch. Nothing about a stadium-sized embarrassment changed that.

The set itself didn't lose a step either. Baltimore got "Choosin' Texas," "weren't for the wind," "Be Her," "Loving Life Again," "you look like you love me," "Bottom of Your Boots," "Dandelion" and more -- and one thing we can now confirm from our Baltimore recap: she did come back out during Morgan's set for their duet "I Can't Love You Anymore." We'd filed that under "hoped for, not verified." Verified.
