Per HITS Daily Double, Drake slows the original down into a hazy, R&B-leaning rework and swaps most of Ella's lyrics for his own, including a Johnny Manziel line. It is, as you'd guess, nowhere close to country.

Here's the part that keeps it in limbo: the remix has not been officially released to streaming. What's floating around is captured off the one-time livestream. And then over the weekend it got stranger — Whiskey Riff reported on September 19 that Drake re-uploaded the FOMO video with Ella Langley's footage removed. So the version that briefly existed with her in it is gone, and there's still no clean, credited release anyone can add to a playlist.

Why does that matter for the record books? Because "Choosin' Texas" just tied Mariah Carey's all-time Hot 100 mark at 22 weeks at No. 1 — a run Ella built with no featured artist and no remix, which is the rarest part of the whole story.
