Ella Langley Oklahoma City Setlist & Recap: The Dandelion Tour Hits the Zoo Amphitheatre

If you were out at the Zoo Amphitheatre Thursday night, you already know: there's something about Ella Langley playing under an open Oklahoma sky that hits different than an arena. The Dandelion Tour rolled into OKC on June 18 with Dylan Marlowe and Gabriella Rose warming up the lawn, and by the time Ella walked out the place was already loud.

The moments that land

Opening cold on the title track is a bold move and it works — no slow build, just "Dandelion" and the whole lawn singing back. From there it's eleven of the sixteen Dandelion cuts, which tells you how much she trusts this record live, and the crowd rewards her for it.

The covers are where she shows her hand as a student of the format. Gretchen Wilson's "Here for the Party" lands early as a gut-punch of fun, the Toby Keith nod gets the older heads, and her take on Kitty Wells' "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels" is the one that feels like a thesis statement — a woman who clearly knows exactly whose shoulders she's standing on.

Then there's the closer. "Choosin' Texas" is the chart monster — the song that put her at the top of the Hot 100 — but it's "weren't for the wind" that consistently gets the loudest, longest singalong of the night. By the second verse the band could practically stop playing and the crowd would carry it. "Be Her", her current radio juggernaut, slots in late and detonates too.
