She finally made it to the mountains. Ella Langley rolled The Dandelion Tour into Pikeville Thursday night, and Appalachian Wireless Arena got loud in the way only an Eastern Kentucky crowd can. If you were there, you already know — if you weren't, here's what we caught.
Kameron Marlowe and Kaitlin Butts had the warm-up duty, and both of them earned it. Butts in particular had the room singing back before Ella ever stepped out, which is exactly the kind of night that makes a Thursday feel like a Saturday.
The setlist
No two nights of this tour have been carbon copies — Ella's been shuffling the middle and swapping a cover here and there — but the Pikeville run held to the Dandelion Tour backbone fans have come to expect. Here's the set as it's been running:
- Dandelion
- I Gotta Quit
- Here For the Party (Gretchen Wilson cover)
- Bottom Of Your Boots
- Paint The Town Blue
- Girl You're Taking Home
- 20-20
- You & Me Time
- Broken
- Somethin' Simple
- Butterfly Season
- It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels (Kitty Wells cover)
- Be Her
- You Look Like You Love Me
- Loving Life Again
- Choosin' Texas
- Weren't For The Wind
That "Here For The Party" cover has become one of the best two minutes of the whole show, and the honky-tonk-angels moment is the one where the whole arena tends to go quiet and then absolutely erupt. Order and a couple of the deeper cuts move around night to night, so if your show ran slightly different, that's the tour — not our count.
Moments that stuck
"Choosin' Texas" is still the emotional peak of the night, and hearing a Kentucky crowd throw that chorus back at her was something. "Loving Life Again," her newest to radio, is landing bigger every stop now that people actually know the words. And the encore hush before "Weren't For The Wind" — that's the one you drive home thinking about.
