Ella Langley is one of 20 artists set to perform at the CMA's Dolly Parton tribute special, the live television event honoring the late country legend. "CMA Presents I Will Always Love You: A Celebration of Dolly Parton" airs Wednesday, October 21 on ABC and Disney+, broadcast from Belmont University's Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville, and it streams on Hulu the following day. For anyone who watched Langley thank Parton the night she died, seeing her name on this bill feels like the loop closing.
Who's performing at the Dolly Parton tribute special
The CMA announced a 20-artist lineup, and it spans generations of the genre. Alongside Langley, the performers are Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, Lainey Wilson, Vince Gill, Carly Pearce, Kelsea Ballerini, Brad Paisley, Zac Brown, Ashley McBryde, Molly Tuttle, Sierra Hull, Bela Fleck, Ricky Skaggs, Lady A, Little Big Town, Lukas Nelson, Darius Rucker, Kristin Chenoweth and Kristen Bell. Amy Grant and Kimberly Williams-Paisley are set to appear as non-performing guests, per Variety and Consequence.
Putting Langley on a stage with Reba, Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs says a lot about where she sits right now. She is the youngest tier of this bill, and she earned the seat the hard way, with the biggest year any new country artist has had in a long time. If you are still catching up on her, our who is Ella Langley guide is the fastest way in.
How to watch
The special airs live on October 21 across ABC and Disney+, so a cable login or a Disney+ subscription gets you the broadcast in real time. If you miss it, it lands on Hulu the next day, October 22, as CBS Austin reported. The venue is Belmont University's Fisher Center for the Performing Arts, a room built for exactly this kind of once-in-a-lifetime night rather than an arena spectacle.
The CMA has not said which song Langley will sing, and we are not going to guess. Parton's catalog is deep enough that the fun is in the surprise, and we will update this piece once the performance assignments are public.
Why this one hits different for Langley fans
Langley does not come to this stage as a stranger to the moment. When Parton died in August at 80, Langley was among the first of the new generation to speak, writing that Parton "paved the way for so many to be brave." A tribute message on Instagram is one thing; being asked to stand up and sing at the official CMA farewell is another, and it is the kind of invitation that tends to go to the artists the institution wants to carry the torch.
It has been that kind of year for her. "Choosin' Texas" turned into one of the defining singles of 2026, and she goes into awards season as one of the most-nominated names on the ballot, which you can read through in our 2026 CMA Awards nominations guide. The Dolly tribute lands right in the middle of that run, between the last dates of the fall Dandelion Tour and the awards themselves.
There is a neat symmetry to it. Parton spent five decades making room for women in a format that did not always want them, and Langley is one of the artists currently proving the point. Hearing her sing a Dolly song on that stage, after a year spent rewriting the record books with "Choosin' Texas", is about as full-circle as country music gets.
