Ella Langley's Dandelion Tour stop at the BOK Center in Tulsa on Friday, October 9 did not happen. The show was canceled a few hours before it was supposed to start after a phoned-in threat against the concert, and as of October 13 no makeup date has been announced. If you had tickets, refunds are coming through the BOK Center and your point of purchase.
What happened
Tulsa police say they got a phone call Friday morning threatening harm at the concert, with no specifics from the caller. Officers had already done their usual pre-show sweep with K-9 and bomb units, then swept the arena and surrounding area again after the call and stepped up security. Both times, according to FOX23's reporting, they found nothing, and the department said it believed the call was likely a swatting attempt.
Late Friday afternoon, Langley posted that the show was off. "Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of my fans, the venue staff, and my team, the incredibly difficult decision was made to cancel tonight's show," she wrote. "I know how much time, travel, money, and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can't tell you how sorry I am... I refuse to put anyone in harm's way." The BOK Center followed with its own statement saying "the show cannot proceed" and apologizing to fans who had planned to attend.
The part people are arguing about
Langley's post said the call was made "under the advisement of local authorities, the venue and my security team." Tulsa police tell it differently. In a written statement the department said it told the performer's staff it had found no credible threat, "but they decided to cancel the performance anyway." Captain Richard Meulenberg told News On 6 that police "never advised them they should not continue."
Both things can be true at once: police can find nothing on a sweep, and an artist's team can still decide it isn't willing to bet a sold-out arena on that. Police called it a sold-out concert and said the incident is under investigation; they're asking anyone with information to call Tulsa Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
Refunds and a makeup date
The BOK Center said refund details would be shared "as soon as possible," and Langley's team said the same. As of this writing there's no rescheduled Tulsa date. If you bought through Ticketmaster or the venue, watch your email from them first. If you bought resale, contact that marketplace directly, since their refund policies for canceled events are their own. We've marked the Tulsa show page as canceled and will update it if a new date is announced.
What's next on the tour
The tour went on the next night in Lubbock, and Langley talked about Tulsa from the stage. We've got that story in our Lubbock recap. After that come two nights at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on October 13 and 14. Every remaining date is on the tour page.
