Ella Langley in Lubbock: 'A Concert's Not Worth a Human Life'

A night after Tulsa was canceled, Ella Langley played Lubbock's United Supermarkets Arena. She said she almost canceled that show too, and that she'd make the Tulsa call again '10 billion times over.'

Ella Langley played Lubbock on Saturday, October 10, the night after her Tulsa show was canceled over a security threat. She told the United Supermarkets Arena crowd she nearly canceled this one too, and she didn't back off the Tulsa decision at all.

What she said about Tulsa

"I was put in charge of a decision for 15,000 people. I decided to make the decision that I could live with the rest of my life," she said, as quoted by American Songwriter. "Because a concert's not worth a human life. It's not. So I would have made yesterday's decision 10 billion times over."

That's a direct answer to the questions that came up after Tulsa police said they had found no credible threat and never advised her to cancel. She didn't argue about the police statement. She said it was her call and she'd make it again.

Why she almost didn't play Lubbock

She also told the crowd she came close to calling off Saturday's show, and that her faith is the reason she didn't. "If it wasn't for Him, I would have canceled this show tonight. I would have," she said, per Rolling Stone. She described "this calling and this tug at my chest that says it's OK. We are safe, and we can do this show," and added that she underlines "do not fear" every time she sees it in the Bible: "I'm not gonna live in fear."

TMZ reported she got emotional on stage and thanked the crowd for showing up for her and her crew after a rough 24 hours.

What about the setlist?

We don't have a confirmed Lubbock setlist yet. The setlist.fm page for the show exists but nobody has filled in the songs, and none of the coverage we've seen lists them. We're not going to fill the gap with a guess. When a real setlist shows up, it'll go on the Lubbock show page and we'll update this post. Laci Kaye Booth and Kameron Marlowe were the openers. For what the tour has been playing lately, the Red Rocks setlist from three nights earlier is the most recent full one we have.

If you were there, tell us what she played, and especially how "Choosin' Texas" went over in West Texas.

Next up

The tour heads west for two nights at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on October 13 and 14, then Redwest Festival in Salt Lake City on October 16.
