ABOUT THE SONG

The Dandelion track that's funny without trying to be the funny song. 'ain't sober yet' is a breakup-recovery song that lets itself be honest about the specific phase between 'I'm fine' and 'I'm actually fine,' and most of the humor comes from how clear-eyed it is about it.

Hailey Whitters' co-writing voice is everywhere on this one — short specific images, no big metaphors, a refusal to feel sorry for the narrator while also not letting her off the hook. The production matches the tone: a Wurlitzer that's just slightly out of tune, brushed drums, and a vocal that's mixed unusually present (you can hear lip clicks in the verses, on purpose).

At live shows it's the song that earns the loudest crowd participation after the headline singles. The bridge is the part fans wait for — a couplet that's become a quote-tweet staple. Ella usually steps off the mic and lets the crowd carry it. By the second tour leg in summer 2026 it was outperforming several of the singles for crowd reaction.
