Choosin' Texas Climbs to No. 3 in the UK — and Goes Gold Over There

We've spent most of this summer watching "Choosin' Texas" do absurd things on American charts. Turns out it's been quietly doing the same thing across the Atlantic, and today it hit a number that made us sit up.

The song is sitting at No. 3 on the UK Official Singles Chart midweek update, which puts it on track for its highest British position ever when the full chart publishes Friday. Music Talkers reported the midweek placement this morning, and Entertainment Focus has been tracking the same climb.

Why No. 3 in the UK is harder than it sounds

Here's the part worth understanding. The Billboard Hot 100 has a massive built-in country audience — 15 weeks at No. 1 there is a record, but country songs at least start with a home crowd. The UK singles chart has no such thing. It's a pop and rap chart with the occasional country-adjacent crossover that got sanded down into something else first.

"Choosin' Texas" didn't get sanded down. It's still a fiddle-and-story song about a girl picking a state over a person, and British listeners took it exactly as it was recorded. Per Music Talkers, that makes it the biggest country single of 2026 in the UK — five weeks in the Top 10, another 20 weeks in the Top 40, and now a Gold certification for passing 400,000 combined sales and streams there. Global Spotify streams are past 564 million.

The album set this up

This didn't come from nowhere. Dandelion entered the UK Official Albums Chart at No. 7 back in April, which is when a lot of British fans found the rest of the catalog — "Be Her," "Bottom of Her Boots," the Morgan Wallen duet "I Can't Love You Anymore." The album did the introducing; "Choosin' Texas" is what carried her into the mainstream chart conversation.

Watch Friday for the confirmed position. A No. 2 or No. 1 would be genuinely historic for a traditional-sounding country record over there, and given how the midweeks have been trending, it's live.
