What Changed Since Last Week

A week ago, "Choosin' Texas" pulled even with Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" at 22 weeks, the tie we covered here. That was the song that had ruled the record book since 1994, topping the Hot 100 every holiday season. As Billboard confirmed, week 23 is the one that breaks it clean — the most weeks any single has ever spent at No. 1, full stop. Variety put it plainly: Langley "finally" eclipses the carol that stood in the way.

Think about the company she just passed. To get here, "Choosin' Texas" had to outlast runs by Mariah, Harry Styles, and Morgan Wallen. A country song did that. A country song written by a woman from Hope Hull, Alabama did that.

None of this happened by accident. Langley wrote "Choosin' Texas" with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, and released it on October 17, 2025 as the lead single from Dandelion.
