What Does “Butterfly Season” by Ella Langley Mean? (feat. Miranda Lambert)
'Butterfly Season' uses a butterfly's metamorphosis as a metaphor for personal growth: choosing to leave an older version of yourself behind, even when you can't see how it turns out. It is a hopeful duet with Miranda Lambert from Dandelion, written by Langley, Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor.

ABOUT THE SONG
What does 'Butterfly Season' mean? It is a song about transformation. The butterfly's metamorphosis stands in for deliberately leaving an old version of yourself behind and growing into a new one, with spring, and planting flowers, as images of change.
It lands on Dandelion after a hard stretch for Langley, who stepped away from touring in 2025 to focus on her mental health, which is why critics read it as a hopeful song about reinvention rather than a sad one. Miranda Lambert duets on it.
Langley wrote it with Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor (the same four who wrote 'Choosin' Texas'), and it was produced by Langley, Lambert and Ben West. It is track 16 on Dandelion (April 10, 2026).
