What does 'Paint the Town Blue' mean? It turns the phrase 'paint the town red' upside down. Since the breakup she has been trying to paint things red, going out and acting like she is fine, but the chorus admits what is really happening: she is at the bar, she won't go home until she forgets, and the color of the night is blue.
It is a heartbreak song disguised as a honky-tonk banger: the drinking is there to drown the hurt, not celebrate.
Langley wrote it with Rhett Akins, Will Bundy and Travis Wood, and Bundy produced it. It came out October 13, 2023 as a promotional single ahead of her debut album Hungover (2024).
