Can Ella Langley Win 2026 CMA Entertainer of the Year?

Yes, she can, and she has a stronger case than any first-time nominee in years. Here's the case for and against Ella Langley as 2026 CMA Entertainer of the Year, ahead of the November 18 show.

Yes, Ella Langley can win Entertainer of the Year at the 2026 CMA Awards, and she has a better case than any first-time nominee in a long time. Whether she will is a closer question. Entertainer is the one award that's about more than one great year, and she's up against four acts who have been headlining for a long time. The show is Wednesday, November 18 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET and streaming on Disney+, with Hulu the next day. CMA members stop voting October 27 at 6 p.m. CT, so the ballots are being filled out now.

Who she's up against

The five Entertainer nominees are Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, Ella Langley, Chris Stapleton and Lainey Wilson. Wilson is the reigning Entertainer of the Year and is hosting the show for the third year in a row. This is Ella's first nomination in the category. She has nine nominations total, more than anyone else this year. Our nominations guide lists all nine.

The case for Ella

She has the song of the year, by a lot. "Choosin' Texas" spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, the longest run in the chart's history, before Taylor Swift's "Patient Zero" knocked it to No. 2 in early October. None of the other nominees had a song that owned the all-genre chart like that this year.

It's more than one hit. She has two songs in Single of the Year ("Choosin' Texas" and "Be Her"), Dandelion is up for Album of the Year, and "I Can't Love You Anymore" with Morgan Wallen is up for Musical Event. Voters have nominated her all over the ballot, not just in a newcomer slot.

She's headlining now. This fall's Dandelion Tour is her first arena headlining run. It has sold out rooms like Knoxville's Food City Center, and she made her headline debut at Red Rocks on October 7 with a 22-song set. She also swept all seven of her nominations at the ACM Awards this spring, per Westword.

The case against

Entertainer is about touring as much as hits. Combs, Johnson and Stapleton all have years of headlining tours behind them. Wilson is the defending winner and will be on stage all night as host. A first-time nominee who's still in her first arena run is the newcomer in that group, no matter how big the single was.

Voters can spread it around. With her name in so many categories, some voters may be happy to reward her for single, song or album and still pick a veteran for the top prize. There's no way to know how many think that way until the envelope opens.

The Tulsa cancellation. We don't think it changes many votes, but it happened during voting. Her October 9 Tulsa show was canceled hours before showtime over a security threat, and police said publicly they never advised canceling. The next night in Lubbock she stood by the decision.

Our take

If Entertainer of the Year goes to whoever defined the year in country music, it's Ella's. If it goes to whoever has the longest, biggest touring record, it probably goes to one of the other four. Very few artists have come into the vote with a year like hers. She can win. We'd call it one of the closest Entertainer races in years.

We'll have a full watch guide closer to November 18. Before that, she's one of 20 performers on the CMA's Dolly Parton tribute special on October 21.
